we begin with breaking news this morning...a strong earthquake rocked central italy... collpasing homes on top of people as they were sleeping. 3 3 we're now taking a live look at the damage in italy. at moer than 30 people are dead ... in two hard-hit towns where rescue crews raced to dig out survivors from the ru expected to rise as crews reach more homes. the magnitude 6 quake was felt across a broad stretch of central italy .. including the capital ...rome. we will continue to montior the latest and bring you updates as we learn more. we are learning more this morning about how a milwaukee boy reportedly fell out of a window and died. the 2-year-old was found outside a home at 40th and mein, meinecke,cbs 58's julie parise joins us live from the milwaukee county medical examiner's office.that's where the autopsy will be performed

kate anher of the boy tells us he crawled feet first out of a cracked window and got stuck. she says she's distraut and is still trying to wrap her head around why this happened to her son. police say the little boy was found by his family just after 4 p-m yesterday. witnesses also say he was try to crawl out of a window and got stuck. neighbors say the child was well taken care of. one neighbor tells us she saw the boy lying outside and try to save him. 48:37-46 i got down and starting doing cpr on the baby but but that time it was too late so i tried some morebutt to50:30-38 i just wish there was more i could do.. i just got to praying please god bring life back into his body just help me me 3 police are investigating this as a sudden death.. no arrests have been made at this time. live in milwaukee jp cbs 58 3 3

after being shot in the leg. police say it happened in the 22-hundred block of 57th street in kenosha around 12-30 this morning. the victim was rushed to the hospital... where they are expected to survive. 3 a baseball fan was hurt during last night's brewers-rockies game at miller park. park.the woman got hit by a line drive in the second inning.miller park staff quickly called for medical assistance.she was carried out of the stadium and put on an ambulance.we're hearing she was hit in the left ear... bu 3 you may remember, the same thing happened to another baseball fan last year....last july, laura turek was sitting several rows behind the brewers dugout when she was hit by a line drive late in the game.the brewers extended the netting behind home plate before the start of this season after several people were hit by foul balls at stadiums around the country. 3 3 looking ahead-reverend jesse jackson will deliver a eulogy at the funeral of sylville smith-- the man fatally shot

that followed a traffic stop. stop.the service is friday.. at the "christian faith fellowship chruch" on good hope road in milwaukee. we'l have continuing coverage later in the week. 3 a state legislator is calling for wisconsin attorney general brad schimel to remove investigators looking into the milwaukee officeinvolved shooting of slyville smith. smith.madison representative chris taylor is one of the original authors of the state law... which requires an ?independent agency? to investigate officer-involved of the law as to prevent peoplfrom the same department from investigating each other.on monday-- schimel said former milwaukee police officers -- who now work for the state department of justice -- are investigating the officer-invovled shooting of smith.taylor says while not ?illegal? -- that goes against the intent of the law... and says it gives the impression the public won't get a fair shake. "so what i would urge is that doj should put all safeards in place right now

" a van full of school supplies and wheelchairs is destroyed in a car fire on milwaukee's south side ....in what police say is a crime inspiried by the unrest earlier this month. month. jesus avila saldana takes several trips to mexico every year.. bringing a van full of supplies for children there.police say 19 year old dale folley lit a napkin on fire in the pick n' save paking l near 18th and national -- then threw that into the van. van.avila says he wants to help folley turn his life

ricardo perez-davila and darquisbyers who are now charged with pulling a gun and taking the man's phone. a burglary suspect is caught after he leaves behind a t-shirt with his name on it. it.35-year-old dustin brannon has been charged with burglary at 'port of ll liquors' in racine.3-hundred dollars was taken from the register.. police found a shirt on the floo near the entrance- with brannon's name ironed onto it. police in mount pleasant are warning residents aft five la the same area over the past month and a half. half.they've been happening in the area near chic/ory road and lathrop avenue.police say the suspect or suspects have forcibly entered homes through doors, garage doors, and windows.police are asking people to lock their cars and homes, and to make sure their outside lights are left on at night.if you see anything suspicious, you're asked to call 9-1. governor scott walker wants to make college moraffordable for wisconsin students. students.walker says he has

new this morning... a 19-year old man is hurt after a shooting in milwaukee. it happened around ten last night at west er and sherman. milwaukee police say the the man was sitting in a vehicle when a suspect with a gun fired several shots inte car.we're told the 19-year-olds wound.a friend took him to the hospital where he is expected to survive. new details this morning in the death of a milwaukee two- year-old. the boy died yesterday after reportedly trying to crawl out of a window. cbs 58's julie parise is live at the medical examiner's office.she has more on the investigation so far.julie? the milwaukee county medical examiner's office says the autopsy on the boy will be performed today. police say the boy was found yesterday around 4 p-m near a home at 40th and meinecke. witnesses say he was trying to crawl out the window and got stuck.... then may have fallen. the mother tells us the child
